Education at The Gin Joint

We think that truly enjoying a beverage comes from knowing where the ingredients have come from. For anyone who is interested in expanding their wine and spirits knowledge, owner Joseph Raya offers wine and spirits classes through the WSET at The Gin Joint.

The WSET Wine and Spirits Education Trust) of London began in 1969 as a way for professionals as well as enthusiasts to study and gain qualifications in wine and spirits. It is a very distinguished program that is the prerequisite for "Master of Wine".

Owners Joe and MariElena Raya both have completed courses with the WSET. Joe holds the distinguished "Diploma in Wine and Spirits" and is one of less than 200 people who have this degree. As of 2009, Joe has been the only approved examiner in South Carolina to offer WSET courses.
